Sydney GTG - March 14?
 

I thought I'd start a new thread to see who might be available for a GTG next month. It. Seems 14th might be the best day. We will go somewhere central to Circular Quay- CBD. Venue depending on Lunch or Dinner - and your suggestions.

Very exciting - we will have 3 & possibly more international travellers with us, including an old friend from TA. If you're reading this, will be in Sydney & would like to meet some other travellers & some locals, you will be most welcome - just pop your name & dates below.

Apologies, I just remembered I'm not available on the Wednesday.

We're good any days the week we are in Sydney March 11 and leave on the 18. I am also available on March 13. It was Feb 13 that wasn't a good date for Melbourne.
We're good with lunch or dinner.

Next - the venue

Unfortunately, there will be a hulking great floating block of flats moored at the OPT, obscuring the views from the MCA rooftop terrace & cafe. Would you believe there is a cruise ship all day, every day at the OPT during March :(

Does anyone have a favourite place within easy reach of Circular Quay, the CBD, that they would like to suggest?

Views would be good ....

Can't help with a venue, but the 14 for lunch sounds good. What time are you thinking?

Bokhara - sorry we have to. Get ready for our US friends arriving on 15 - we are meeting them in Sydney for a few days first.

Hi all! We have made it to Sydney. We're looking forward to meeting everyone at lunch this Tuesday. I think the time is 12:30, but did I miss the where?

No - I've been faffing about & haven't settled on a place.

Despite my ambivalence about the cruise ship parked in front of the MCA, I think I should get over myself & have it as an option. It has a lot going for it, especially as Tuesday is predicted to be wet.

The suggestions have been :

MCA Terrace
Cafe Sydney
The Mercantile Hotel ( in The Rocks)

All of these are easily walkable from Circular Quay

Let's put it to the vote:

I think our organiser is wavering. Our usual place in the Museum of Contemporary Art at the Quay is blighted by one of those huge liners being in port and blocking the view.

I'm in for anything. Cafe Sydney is good but $$ compared with MCA.

I'm happy with the MCA or the Mercantile... Cafe Sydney too $$$ I feel.

They don't take bookings, so I will try & get there early to save a table.
