Sydney Day Trip
 

Can anyone recommend a tour guide that can take us to Featherdale Wildlife Park, the Blue Mountains, and the Jenolan Caves all in one day? Our time is limited in Sydney and we really want to see as much as we can, but we're not really wanting to drive ourselves.

Our two full days in Sydney are Feb 11th & 12th. How long a train ride is it from Sydney to Katoomba? How about by car? Do you have a website set up yet with more details?

The train trip from Central Station in Sydney to Katoomba is 90mins. Trains leave every hour. Driving there will take the same amount of time. But if you are not familiar with the roads, it can be stressful getting out of the city.

I'd recommend taking the train. A return ticket for the two of you will be cheaper than hiring a car for the day and paying for petrol (gas).

It's a pleasant train ride.

We have no website yet. I would love to show you around but we will not have our ‘Business’ running by mid February. That’s not to say I can’t help you with your plans. If you want to see Featherdale in addition to the Blue Mountains and the Caves than I suggest that a Day and a half tour would be needed. The 'Caves are about 3 hours from Sydney by train/car. The tours of the caves are usually around 2 hours. There are many Look Outs accessible by car in the Blue Mountains. In addition to the Cable Car, Scenic Railway and the Three Sisters in Katoomba there are many easy bush walks that will give you a glimpse of the glorious flora and fauna of our National Park. The waterfalls and beautiful ferns in the gullies are an absolute ‘must see’ for any visitor.

I just got back from 2+ weeks in Australia. We spent two days in Katoomba - cked out the 3 sisters, walked down the 861 steps, then 2.5km over to the scenic railway since there was no chance we were planning on walking UP the 861 steps. We really liked the scenic railway since we didn't have any idea what to expect. It also limited out exposure to the throngs of tourists at scenic world.
I had searched the forum for a guide and come up with bluemountainguides.com.au and it is the same as rdmh.com service. I have to say it was a great day. Craig took us to the top of Mt. Hay, Govett's Leap, Hargraves Lookout, and down into the Megalong Valley where we sat in camp chairs, having cheese, crackers, and beverages watching some wild Kangaroos hop around and waiting for the sun to set atop the cliffs.
It was a great day and money well spent.
