Sydney Bridge Adventure

Anyone done the Bridge walk? Thinking of giving it as a gift for a couple traveling in April. They love hiking, adventures and "doing everything" while they travel.

Presumably you are referring to the Bridge Climb - in which case if you do a Search in the box above you will find lots of information from people who have done or are planning on doing it.

Not done it myself - you sort of don't do this sort of stuff if it's on your doorstep; and it is expensive!

But groups are up there all day and every day. It's very popular.

If your friends are fit and up for it, I think it would be a brilliant gift (but do Bridge Climb do gift vouchers?)

Yes, you can get gift vouchers. We received 2 for our combined 50th birthday last year.

You don't have to be fit, that was one of the things worrying me, but I had no problems at all completing the climb. I am a serious couch potato. lol

There are many stops to admire the view and to catch your breath.

I did the bridge climb a couple of years ago. I have lived in Sydney all my life but visitors to sydney would also love it. It is a wonderful experience as well as great views. Some people think it is too expensive but for a once off (although I would enjoy it again) it is worthwhile.
I have splurged on a Gondola ride in Venice, some people do a private tour of the Sistine Chapel...
It ranges in price from $195 - $295 depending on time www.bridgeclimb.com
There is also a Sydney Tower walk which may be cheaper.

4merlot,
If you mean the Bridge walk as per your post, the walk across the harbour bridge is free.
There is a public walk-way and a bicycle way with fabulous views, all at the right price - nix.
Catch the train at Wynyard station to Milsons Point, the first stop across the bridge, and just walk back. It is wonderful and well worth it.

I live here and have done the Bridge Climb.

It's a wonderful experience, if expensive.

Cheaper alternatives, but no so spectacular - walk across, as described above, or pylon climb thing - not too expensive.

Skywalk? OK but it's not a patch on Bridge Climb.

Hi Merlot!

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! :)

It was awesome...I think the hardest part of it is deciding what time of day. I did the night climb on what turned out to be one of the clearest evenings of the month. In our group, there was a couple there from Germany, doing it for the second time, as they'd done a day climb before and wanted a different experience.

Let us know what YOU choose!

Did the Bridge Climb, it was awesome.

I definately recommend it, but when I bought my ticket I was told that the ticket is good for the specific tour you have booked (day and time), and you CANNOT change the day/time.

I have been to Sydney a few times and I always wanted to do the bridge climb, but keep putting in off because of the weather (rain).

I don't know if buying a ticket in advance is a good idea. Our group climbed the bridge on a beautiful sunny morning in October. (I choose the morning since it gets hotter in the afternoon). Just as we got off the bridge it started to drizzle. A few minutes later it was pouring. I think groups go every 15 minutes, if I was in the group that departed 15 minutes later, I wouldn't have enjoyed the bridge climb that much. I had perfect timing, since it rained the entire time I was in Sydney, after that.

Remember, the bridge climb operates rain or shine.
