I was in Sydney for 4 days in May, now I am going back as part of a cruise. I have seen and climbed the bridge, opera house, Manley beach, zoo, the rocks, aquarium (fantastic) and the Maritime museum. I have about 6 hours to see something new. How is the Powerhouse museum? Any other suggestions? we will be docked at darling harbour.

The Powerhouse museum is good and walking distance from Darling Harbour. What about walking through the Botanical gardens or visiting the NSW Art Gallery - both close to the CBD and an easy taxi ride from Darling Harbour.

Thanks for the tips. I have been to the botanical garden, so I will try either the Powerhouse museum or the NSW museum. Enjoyed the Chinese gardens when I was there in May, also.

Take the Bondi explorer bus and go out to Bondi Beach and have a snoop around. It is positively breathtaking. Much prettier than Manly. There is a restaurant there called Ravesi's.They have been closed for renovation, but are due to open up around Nov.1.There is plenty to see along the way and the bus stops at a number of places including Valcluse House. <BR>Or stay in Sydney and visit the Powerhouse Museum or the Museum of NSW, Mrs. Macquiries chair, the botanical gardens. <BR>There is a wonderful little bistro called the Sydney Oyster Cove, over by the Opera Quay.Wonderful oysters Kilpatrick or Kamakazie. <BR>If you like gardens and birds, late in the afternoon a man feeds peanuts to the cockatoos at the main pond in the botanical gardens and the birds will sit right on your hand and eat out of it.

Thanks Texas girl, when we were in Sydney in May we ran out of time. Our next venture was going to be Bondi beach, so I would like that. Do we have enough time? I would like to do the coastal walk and maybe walk around Darling harbor some. I thought maybe Bondi Beach was too similar to Manley to warrent a trip there.

I would highly recommend the coastal walk. You could get the train/bus to Bondi then walk south through Tamarama, Bronte, Waverley Cemetry, Clovelly and stop at Coogee where there are plenty of cafes, etc. You can get a bus from Coogee back to the city.

If you go to Bondi, stop at Watsons Bay for lunch with a beautiful view. The seafood is fantastic.

Matt, I printed out a map of the bus route for the Bondi bus, but didn`t see anything that said Watson`s Bay. Is that a restaurant or the name of a town? Sounds like a place I would like to try out. How long is the Coastal walk?

Rene, it was you that suggested Watson`s Bay. My apologies.

Watson's Bay is another good option, but is too far from Bondi to be combined with the coastal walk. Its at South Head, just as you enter the Harbour. You're best option is to get a ferry there, but there are also buses. Its got a good pub with a bistro and there is a nice walk past Camp Cove and over the Cliff faces. <BR>The coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee takes about 1 hr at a decent pace without stops. <BR>

Pat <BR>If you only have 6 hours to spare, I would suggest taking the ferry to Cremorne Pt, and then take one of the world's most beautiful urban walks all the way to Mosman Bay ferry wharf (2km).The walk has a conbination of spectacular views, beautiful tropical plants & trees and lot's of luxury mansions lining the walk. I do it all the time, and I never get sick of it!!

We are now overnighting in Sydney, so I will have more time. Thanks for the suggestion. I love looking at gardens and mansions!

John, <BR> One more question, do I get the ferry to Cremorne Pt from circular quay?

Pat <BR>All you do is go to Wharf 4 at Circular Quay (there should be a ferry running every 20 minutes)and get off at the first stop (Cremorne Pt) and continue walking to the Mosman wharf. A return ticket will cost you about $6 AUS, but it will be the best 6 dollars you'll ever spend. You'll get to see a side of Sydney that not many tourists get to see!!! John, <BR>Traveling from the USA. Will look up that website. I did print out a map of the area from a search engine. Thanks for all your help! I am gradually getting this trip together.
