Just curious after the post about favorite restaurants in Australia-- what are your favorite restaurants in New Zealand? We leave in 2 weeks (yeah!!!) and would love suggestions.

Tuatara Pizza in Wanaka

The Hummingbird in Wellington - great for breakfast and dinner! (and late evening drinkies according to my husband, who is supposed to be driving his cab at that time! He has just said he picks up passengers there, and is often offered a cup of coffee!!)

The Old Library Cafe in Fairlie.

The Cafe Istanbul Restaurant in Wellington was great some years ago - haven't been for some time though.

Where in NZ will you be visiting?

I will be on the South Island for 3 weeks...

I can't speak from experience because I am going to NZ for the first time in 2 weeks. However, after looking at many sites and forums, I've come up with the following restaurants that looked good enough to make advance reservations -

In Christchurch - Pescatore in the George Hotel

In Akaroa - C'est La Vie Bistro/Cafe

In Arrowtown - Saffron, Gantleys

In Queenstown - Solera Vino

You should be able to find info on any or all of these via Google.

Thanks for all your recommendations! I was looking up mover's restaurants online, and I found an interesting site, www.dineout.co.nz, where people review and rate a lot of restaurants. Found some other interesting restaurants here!
