South Island Tour
Hi, my parents are visiting the South Island end of february - will arrive in Christchurch on the 28th Feb in the afternoon and will depart on the 6th of March, afternoon. Could someone please recommend a tour which they could take, as that would probably suit them best.
Thank you |
How active are your parents, what are their interests, how will they travel, do they want to stay in CC, etc. ((R))

Jed, parents are pretty active, want to visit the usual suspects- Dunedin, Te Anau, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mt. Cook - basically a touristy trip. A coach trip would be good preferable with hotels thrown in during the tour. They could then book their hotel in CC for the 28th and 5th nights. From their timings I would suspect that a coach/ small group trip beginning the 1st morning and bringing them back to CC on 5th evening would suit them best...Thanks..JK

Hi I did a trip 3 years ago using Moatrek which is a small company and they only take small groups which makes it very personal & flexible. I can highly recommend them

There are 1.75 zillion coach tours of NZ. You can see some by googleing 'new zealand coach tours'. You can also start with http://www.scenicpacific.co.nz/trip.cfm/trip-10000031
which looks good to me. Perhaps, because of their rigid timetable, a personalized tour such as moatrek would be good. |
I took a "Scenic Pacific" tour from Christchurch last June. We did the Dunedin, Fiordlands, Glacier tour. You are issued vouchers but are otherwise unaccompanied. We thought it was great and were able to add some wildlife viewing in Dunedin and a Maori dinner in Queenstown. We took the "cheaper" version and were very satisfied with the accomodations.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
