South Isl NZ restaurants

A friend and I are going to New Zealand next month and will be visiting Queenstown, Dunedin and Christchurch. I find the guide books that I have looked at are not very helpful on restaurants.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

If you like Indian food, I highly recommend Little India in Queenstown and Dunedin. Other places we like in Queenstown are Turkish Kebabs (a tiny place with only one or two tables, it's mostly take away). I believe it's across the mall from the movie theater), Sombrero's Mexican Restaurant and The Cow.

Can't help with Christchurch, we usually just pass through.

For a wonderful, cozy and casual try the COW restaurant and for an all the way first class restaurant with an extensive wine list try THE GANTLEY'S. Phone 03 442 8999.
Don't miss a glass of wine at the EICHARDT'S bar. This is a private hotel with very few rooms that start at
US$1000.

Just a word of warning if you are going to The Cow restaurant. Last year when I was there I embarrassed myself hugely when I fell in the doorway, not realising the door consists of two sections (like a stable) and I only opened the top half! While on this thread - has anyone been to Roaring Meg's, either before or after they moved premises? I'm going later this year and thought I might try it.

I also asked about restaurants in NZ. One that was highly recommended and looks good is Saffron. Take a look - http://www.saffronrestaurant.co.nz/#

We're not going until November. So PLDASE post a review when you return.
