Sir Stamford vs. Quay West vs. Regent Sydney

We have heard wonderful things. The Quay West is slightly less $$ than the other choices. Can you please help us decide. We leave two weeks! Thanks

We stayed at the /Quay West and loved it, It's a great 5 star apartment (spacious)hotel with 24 hour room service, etc.

Furnished upscale, with granite counter tops, vcr, stereo and increible views.

I'm surprised that it's less money. Is that for a harbour view room?

Stayed at the Sir Stamford when it was a Ritz (May 2000), and really enjoyed the rooms, location, and service there. Regent is also great location, and we were thinking of trying that one on our next visit to Sydney.

i stayed at the sir stamford in oct 2001. i checked out the next day; it was so disappointing. staff very helpful but sadly the hotel has got shabby since been taken over - bedroom furniture dented, soft furnishings shabby, noisy air con. large rooms but low ceilings which give an opressive atmosphere.

i checked into the regent - very impressed. has all the four seasons touches. although the rooms are small. hotel recently recently decorated, beds supremely comfortable. worth ringing directly and asking for special rates - all hotels in sydney have overcapacity.

QW definitely - go for the harbour view if you can afford it. Sir Stamford is tired, Regent too arrogant - QW you can do your own catering as they are fully fitted out kitchens. try www.wotif.com.au for best current deals.

I posted the original question-

In reading between the lines I have decided on the sir stamford- despite the criticism, I prefer a lumpy bed in a building of 105 rooms to cookie cutter perfection in a glitzier place- of 500++ rooms- but I appreciate all of your input and yes- wotif is amazing. We booked it there.
