Shopping for Coogi sweaters
 

We'll be coming to Australia and New Zealand this spring and would like to buy the colorful Coogi sweaters there. Where would the best places to shop be--for the best prices on these expensive (but wonderful) items.

You will find some of them at the Melbourne Markets - the Victoria Markets I think. I bought some there for about a quarter of the usual price. As they are made in Melbourne I would think that you should be able to get them there at a good price although I did buy one in Sydney for a good price too.

What is a Coogi sweater? Sorry for my ignorance. Will be visiting from America over the holidays and might buy one for my wife.

Coogi sweaters have pattern made by computers and are usually made with lovely bright colours. All are different and you can get some which are muted in colours but the brighter they are the nicer they are I think. They can actually be bought in Alaska as I was there a month ago and saw some but mostly the best are purchased in Australia. Usually made with wool you can also get cotton ones too which can be used for the not so cold times. The last one I bought was in Sydney for $100 Australian on special and the ones that I got at the market in Melbourne were $50 Australian but that was some years ago. <BR>It would be a great purchase for someone overseas! <BR>

A Coogi sweater (we call them jumpers in Australia) is a woollen knitted jumper, multi-coloured and often woven in bright colours, though you can get a more muted design. They are meant for men as well as women. <BR>Judy, I'm pretty sure there are Coogi shops, you could try www.whitepages.com.au and also try Myer and David Jones in Melbourne - both large department stores. As Liz says, Queen Victoria Market is a good place to shop and you can sometimes bargain a bit there. <BR>Have fun shopping! Kay

I bought a Coogi style sweater in Port Douglas at the marina. It is 100% cotton and was made by Purely Australian Clothing Co. I believe that was also the name of the store. It was $99Au and 50% off as we were there in March. It is so comfortable and by getting cotton I can wear it for a much longer season. My friends husband travels to Au about 5 times a year and brings them back every time. He said the Coogi brand is very expensive and he has several.Don't buy name brand they look and feel the same and are as well constructed for a third or half the price wool or cotton.
