Seeking Moorea/Bora Bora travel agencies

I'm starting to plan my honeymoon for august 04 and was looking for a suggestion for travel agents and places to stay. 1st quote I received for 10 days was around 4K each, hoping to get that down a little.

You can try www.tahiti-explorer.com
They have good info and good deals. We used them last year and everything was perfect (we went to BB Pearl Beach - great!)

If you are a member of Costco, give them a try (www.costco.com).

Jdykes,

I suggest that you contact a Tiare Specialist, which is a travel agent who specializes in Tahiti. Just go to the Tahiti Tourism website and find a specialist in your area.

I say Costco all the way. I found them to be $2k (~25%) cheaper than the best price from one of the Tahiti specialists including Tahiti-Explorer. We stayed at the Sheraton on Moorea and Sofitel Motu on BB. If I had it to do over again, I'd have tried the Sheraton Nui on BB. Motu was fine but we liked the Sheraton better. The cost is heavily dependent on which rooms you stay in (garden, overwater, beach). We went in July this year, 8 nights was $6600 for 2, OWB.

Like for most goods it sells, Costco may be cheaper than retailers, but it will not be 25%. The most may be 5 to 10%. This is a competitive market, and no one is adding 25% mark-up to any travel arrangements.

Also, as in their wherehouses, don't expect any service or personalized advice from Costco. You always get what you pay for.

I recommend www.pacific-for-less.com - they gave us an amazing package for our trip to the Cooks. Costco does have great prices if you know exactly where you want to stay. Plus - after your 1st call to Costco, you should ask the agent for his or her e-mail and then you can converse/make changes re: your trip itinerary via e-mail and never have to wait on hold again.

For a friend, I got a quote for 1n Tahiti/4n Moorea at Pearl Beach in a beach bungalow/4n Bora Bora at Le Meridian OWB for only $4700 TOTAL for 2 people flying out of LAX - that's airfare & hotel & all transfers - through Costco.

Try getting a 9 night package in Moorea/Bora Bora for that price at any travel agency and you'll see why Costco does have good pricing.

Actually, checking my records, the best comparable quote I got to Costco was$7800 and the worst was $8900. So that's 15-25%, very significant, not 5-10%. Service was much better than some of the "reputable" Tahiti companies, one of which quoted me twice with flights that did not even exist! Like I'm not talking off by 5 minutes, they tried to sell me a flight leaving Tahiti in the evening for Moorea when in fact, the last plane was already gone and I would have to spend the night in Tahiti. A real expert on Tahiti, huh? Now, teh folks at Costco have never been to Tahiti, can't advise you on which hotel has the best views or anything like that, but a great price, accurate info, and great support will be available. We got updates every month as to the status of our flights (they constantly change by a few minutes here and there) and had no problems.

Hi there,

I understand that most of view prefer to select a US-based travel agency ...

Well, for all of you seeking for an alternate solution to organize their honeymoon to Tahiti & her islands, I suggest that you give a try to the following Tahiti-based travel agent : "e-Tahiti Travel"
http://www.etahititravel.com

Not only will they provide up-to-date information and advices, but they will also be able to assist you all along your trip !
