Seal or Dolphin Swim question
Ok, I know this may be a silly question, but we are planning to do a seal swim in Kaikoura. It looks like the companies provide wetsuits, and I know you wear a swimsuit underneath, but they also list an awful lot of clothing towels to bring. Do you wear more than just a swimsuit underneath??? Why the need for so many clothes?!
Sorry for the lame question, I just want to know! |
When we went dolphin swimming in Whakatane, they recommended we bring jackets or pullovers and hats to wear on the boat. It was a bit chilly as we went out into the bay, and dh in particular was glad for his jacket.
You'll need towels to dry yourself off after you shower when you get back, and some clothes to put on - don't think Kaikoura is known for its streakers! :-) Lee Ann |
Has anyone done a seal swim in Kaikoura? There does not seem to be as much hype as with the dolphin swim.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know if the seal colony can be visited by car? |
patw - I am always dubious about swimming with seals, as we all know what eats seals.
I'm pretty sure that there is a seal colony on the rocks at peninsula at Kaikoura. |
I believe that the layers of clothing became de rigeur after a dolphin strenuously attempted to rape an unwary American tourist some time ago. But don't let me put you off.
