Romantic Restraunts

Hello,

My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon and I am trying to get some opinions on romantic restraunts in Sydney and Melbourne. We will be there during late November early December. Thank you.

Ron

Ron:

Just got back yesterday from Sydney/Port Douglas, here are some very memorable places:

Must go to Watermark on Balmoral Beach (Sydney - quick cab ride) - very romantic - spent our 4th anniversary there just under 2 weeks ago. Very pretty place, up scale. Our favorite of the trip.

Level 41 right in Sydney was fantastic - great views from the bathrooms as well as restaurant. Great 3 or 4 course meal - more formal than Watermark (not that Watermark is casual, but 41 is more business-y too - the view just can't be beat!)

Le Kiosk on Manly Beach (Sydney) is a beautiful spot too - just had lunch there, but can see how eating outside there at night would be quite romantic.

Those are my votes - congrats and good luck!

Hi Ron,

There's a book published every year called The Age (it's a daily newspaper in Melb) Good Food Guide. Try newsagents in Melbourne or Sydney or dstore.com.au. It lists restaurants in Melbourne, and gives info about ambiance and the like.
For a really great afternoon, try the Fairfield boathouse, in Fairfield, Melbourne. It's an old boathouse on the river, and they do bbq style stuff, fish, steaks, pavlovas, etc looking out onto the river. Then you can hire a rowboat and take your beloved out on the lake.

Enjoy.

Ron, I don't know your criteria for a romantic restaurant, but I can tell you that we ate in a wonderful restaurant in Melbourne called Langton's. It is located half way below street level on a tiny street behind the Westin Melbourne (a gorgeous hotel, by the way, which just opened in March) in what used to be the wholesale garment district. The food was superb, the service impeccable, and it was not the least bit touristy. The prices were no more than you would expect in any first rate restaurant, and as you can see by my comments,I highly recommend it.
Ron, I found the address for Langton's Restaurant in Melbourne. It is 61 Flinders Lane, and the phone number is 9663-0222.

Bon Appetite!
