Restaurants in Australia

I am looking for good, reasonably priced (is that possible down under?) in the following cities:
Alice Springs

Does anyone have any good recommendations?
Local cuisine preferred.

We really enjoyed Ethos in Hobart. The wine bar at MONA was good too and not too expensive.

Mures Seafood for good fish and chips in Hobart, avoid Fish Frenzy it was really bad when I was there in December.

Most cities have what we call 'Cheap Eats guides'. You can buy then in newsagents. Mostly cheaper restaurants are ethnic food: Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Malaysian.

If you have an Iphone the Thousands app is good for cafes in Hobart.

Middle Brighton Baths in Melbouorne. Restaurant upstairs, casual cafe downstairs. Both were very good when I was there last month. Unbeatable views & you can have a swim before lunch if you fancy it.

I like The Hellenic Republic in Melbourne. You need to book. Great value and delicious Greek food.

"Most cities have what we call 'Cheap Eats guides'."

The new Melbourne version is about to be published this coming week-end (March 16 - $5 if you buy it with the paper, otherwise $10). Interesting to note that it is no longer the "Cheap Eats Guide" but "Good Food under $30" -- a testament, perhaps, to the fact that eating out in Melbourne (particularly at the higher-end places) has become an eye-wateringly expensive proposition.
