Reef Walkers?

We are going to Vatulele in October. Are reef walkers a necessity or will an old pair of tennis shoes suffice? Thanks for your help.

I took a pair of reef walkers (they are only $5.00 at Walmart), are lighter than tennis shoes, work better & then we just leave them there for the locals when we go home. Not worth carrying around for the price. And you do need them if you plan on going in the water much or to Nooki Island. Have fun!

Peggy - Thanks for the speedy reply. Good advice from someone who seems to know the ropes!

The other advantage of reef walkers is that they dry much faster so have less tendency to begin rotting in the tropical heat (not a pretty picture, that).

Reef walkers definitely! For what they cost (about 5-6 bucks at K mart Wal mart etc.), they are a good investment.
We have been to dozens of tropical destinations and wouldn't be without them. Also, as Ken mentioned, they dry much faster!
