Queenstown Lodging help

Has anyone stayed at the "Outrigger at the Beacon" in Queenstown? It is a new hotel located on the Esplanade. Have not been able to find any reviews. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with this hotel, but they're listed at www.wotif.com, so you might want to book through them should you decide to stay there. Wotif usually has some pretty good deals, but they only book properties up to 14 days in advance. We've used Wotif before and were very pleased.

Here's one review:

For what it's worth, this hotel is part of the Outrigger chain - I have stayed in an Outrigger hotel in Hawaii and it was fine.

Hi Libby,

I was just in Queenstown in November and did a site inspection with the manager of the hotel -- the hotel is lovely and if you're staying in Queenstown for awhile, it would be worth it to get one of the one bedroom apartments, as opposed to the hotel rooms. They have a complete kitchen, very roomy living room area, washer & dryer, and a balcony as well. It's just a short walk into town.

Based on my inspection, I put clients there last week after their Holyford walk and they enjoyed it.

Melodie -

I want your job!

Thank you so very much for the replies. We are only staying there two days but I did book a two bedroom apartment. We have two teenagers and will need a little privacy as well as laundry to do! I'm so glad to hear you have actually inspected it and have had guests stay there. Perfect.

Melnq8,

Ah, the grass is always greener...you just THINK you want my job! It's like any other, with pros and cons.

Yes, I inspected the hotel, BUT, I was on my own personal vacation! See what I mean, I'm supposed to be on vacation, but I'm still working! It's hard to turn it off when you're a travel agent -- you see some hotel and you just have to pop in and check it out! If possible, I try to do that sort of thing when my husband's taking a nap back at the hotel! Queenstown was easy because it's compact! :)

Libby, with two teenagers that 2 bedroom is going to be great for you! Privacy, and the full kitchen as well and the laundry - perfect. Enjoy your stay in NZ!

Regards,

Melodie

I hear you Melodie... in another life I was an insurance adjuster, and I couldn't walk down a street without gazing up at every roof I passed. I also cringed every time the weatherman predicted hail or other natural disasters.

Funny how our jobs follow us around...
