Queenstown gondola - anything to eat other than Skyline buffet?
Wondering if there's any other cafe, etc. up at the Queenstown Gondola station other than the Skyline buffet restaurant.
Thanks, Kat |
There is also a small cafe with a nice porch on the other side of the building, as well as a bar.

Oh, life saver. Thanks a lot, ALF. I assume the cafe has sandwiches and things like that which can make a reasonable lunch right?
|
Yes indeed. The buffet looked fantastic, but we were on a tight budget. They had a selection of sandwiches, burgers, etc. Nothing special, but perfectly serviceable, and the view from the porch is great!

Hi Kat,
Just back from NZ last month and I was doing a site inspection with the Sales Manager..... I don't know how to advise you about the buffet -- I've eaten there twice -- once was great, once awful. And now they have a brand new chef. The cafe is very nice, and you can get a lunch or snack there - they have sandwiches, salads and some really yummy looking desserts. And, as ALF says, there's a deck right off the cafe, and while you're there, just continue down the walkway for the luge. I hadn't done this before and it's sooooooo much fun! (buy tickets when you're getting your gondola ones). You start out on the "beginner's" track which is mandatory and then you can go to the "Advanced" track. If I hadn't had an appointment, I'd still be on the track! Regards, Melodie Certified Aussie & Kiwi Specialist |
Yes, but timing is important. Do the luge BEFORE the buffet!
|
Melodie - was it the Christmas special buffet that you had?
Can't wait to take the luge! Thanks, Kat |
ALF....
You crack me up! Kat, no I didn't eat there at all this time, I was just doing a site inspection, walking around with the Sales Manager, checking things out like the new Maori show.... Melodie Certified Kiwi Specialist |
