Qantas Flight QF 7

We are returning from Sydney on QF 7 to Dallas in Business Class. Is the Upper Deck preferable to the Lower Deck?

Yes.

It depends.

The stock answer is "yes" but personally, I think the upper deck is over-rated. In my (admittedly somewhat limited) experience, the upper deck is often full and the lower deck half empty.

As QF7 has no F, the first few rows of J are in the pointy end, where F used to be. Two seats either side in three rows and two in the middle in the last row. If there are two of you, I would consider 3EF, as you then both have an aisle. The rest of the lower deck J cabin is 2-3-2. As a solo traveller, (depending on the configuration) 5B or J is preferable, as it's a single (aisle) seat with a large table/storage bin where 5A/K would (theoretically) be.

You can see the different configurations on seat guru (and elsewhere) and they're distinguishable because the row numbers are different-

Figure out which configuration it is based on the day you're flying and the row numbers and choose accordingly.....

Much better answer than mine. I forgot that F has been removed from QF's 744s.
