Qantas

FYI--For what it's worth...

Economy passengers traveling on international Qantas Airways flights
will be given plenty to munch on, with a new service "snack on Q."
Passengers will receive a reusable drawstring bag, with a selection of
snacks including health bars, fruit, chocolates and mints after the main
meal. The new International Economy Class meal service will also offer
individual bottles of mineral water, premium wines in individual
bottles, meal trays with glass salad bowls and wine glasses and new
menus with more generous servings. Passengers would also receive an
amenity pouch containing socks, eyeshade, toothbrush and toothpaste.
All I can say is that Qantas food can only improve. it has been dreadful lately (both international and domestic) and they have had a lot of criticism about it. Many Qantas domestic flights now don't provide tea and coffee- but you can buy alchohol.

Flew Qantas on the weekend...Sydney to JFK. Wonderful attentive service. The Aussie male flight attendants are so much more efficient than the snotty female U.S. attendants.

Even on the domestic flights, received a box meal, sandwich and beverage. A hell of a lot more than any U.S. airline gives on a 3 hr. flight.

No complaints with Qantas.

The snack service on Qantas is over and above the meal service and for those passengers who may get hungry during the night and would like something to munch on till breakfast.
The meals that Qantas serve are the from the same caterer that is used in most International destinations for most of the carriers and so you would get exactly the same food if you were travelling on aeroflot, AirNZ, United, Singapore Airlines or Qantas except perhaps a different menu and certainly you get a different wine list.
I have flown a lot recently domestically and never not been offered tea or coffee so I guess its on a time structure - less than 45 minutes and there is no tea or coffee.
For those International travellers who are lucky to fly Business Class, Qantas is changing all the long haul business seats to fully reclining bed seats so that you get to sleep properly.
There has always been an amenity bag for economy class with socks, eyeshades, toothbrush, toothpaste and comb.
I have travelled many aircraft Internationally and I do not see any difference between Singapore Airlines and Qantas except that Qantas has a much better safety record. Singapore Airlines seats are smaller too!

And not only that, qantas is expanding all the time, what a great airline it is !!!! People interested in flying to Aust from Chiacago will be abel to do just that as of a couple of weeks. Qantas has taken delivery of the first of 13 Airbus A330 aircraft to
be added to the airline's fleet over the next three years. The
two-class A330-200 aircraft, which seats 303 passengers, is scheduled
to operate its first commercial service early in the New Year on key
Cityflyer routes between Sydney and Brisbane,Melbourne and Perth.
The first A330-300 aircraft will be delivered during late 2004 to
provide for growth on regional international routes.

Qantas operated its first Cityflyer service to Perth on 2 January
2003, using the airline's new Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Perth
Cityflyer offers seven services a day between Perth and Sydney, eight
services a day between Perth and Melbourne and two services a day
between Perth and Brisbane.

Qantas will commence its first services to Chicago from Melbourne via
Los Angeles three times each week from 31 March 2003, using the
airline's new long range 747-400 ER aircraft. A new schedule,
effective from 31 March 2003, also includes three new services each
week from Sydney to Los Angeles. Under the new schedule, Qantas will
add 25 per cent capacity on the route by operating 33 services each
week between Los Angeles and Australia via Auckland. Pete
