Prescription medication

We have quite a few prescription medication to bring with us. Nothing serious and mostly as we are away for 5 weeks it's 'just in case'
I'm wondering how tight the nz airport authorities are in respect of checking these. Ideally they pack much better out of the boxes but I read it all needs to come in original packaging with details of the prescription. Is this really correct?

Here are the official guidelines from the NZ government website:

And this:

I've visited NZ over a dozen times in the last 20 years and have always taken prescription drugs. I often remove them from their original packaging, and put into pill boxes or small cellophane zip bags. I've never had an issue, but that's not to say you won't.

Keep in mind that marijuana, with or without an RX is NOT allowed in NZ.

NZ has very strict biosecurity guidelines, which catch many visitors off guard. Take a good long look at this:

I'm another person who has travelled to NZ multiple times (the last trip was for 6 weeks) and never had an issue taking my prescription meds with me. I have never taken them in original bottles but just put them in small zip-lock bags. For what it is worth, in over 35+ years of international travel to destinations all over the world (multiple trips each year) I've followed the same procedure and never once have I ever been questioned about my meds. I've always put them in my carry-on bag.
