Pre-opera dinner at the Sydney Opera House

I'm debating between Guillaume at Bennelong and Bistro Mozart. What are the price ranges and types of foods offered at each of these?

Is Bistro Mozart the cafe near the front of the Opera House (was Cafe Mozart - but it may have changed it's name)

Unless it's been seriously re-vamped - it's a bit chalk and cheese! Bennelong is an expensive restaurant (food reports vary, but usually good) with a great view. The Cafe ?called Bistro ? sells pretty crappy, pre-cooked food - with a view of the queues for the ladies loo and/or cloakroom! OK for a quick snack if you feel you are about to be overtaken by hunger pains / hypoglycaemia, etc.

You need to decide what's important to you.

Bistro Mozart is described as the "recently reopened Bistro Mozart" and as being in the Box Office Foyer.

Other dinner options in or very near the Opera House are the Opera Bar, which is on the Lower Concourse Level, and Café West The Colonnade, Western Broadwalk.

I am no "fine diner" but i think the opera bar is good. Not too expensive and great views.

Make sure you get out and have a champagne at the back of the opera hall at intermission.Fantastic night views over the harbour.Probably more entertaing than the opera.

agree with Opera Bar. Great views and a lot cheaper than Guillaume. However, if you're looking at dining at Guillaume, Aria (which is nearby) is great too and one of the top restaurants in Sydney.

I would go for the Opera Bar - great view, fun atmosphere, decent food and keep to a budget if need be. If money is no object the Guillaume is fine but I would not want to rush it by having to go to a show later.
