Just looked that up mlgb and now I want to go!

Thanks for all the links mlgb, I'm in the middle of planning my southland itinerary and a stop in Tuatapere may be just the ticket for lunch or something as we go by!

I also checked out your favorite Chch B&B, the Windsor - still not sure where I'm staying though.

Thank-you so much for these links Mlgb. It looks amazing I'm sure we won't regret our alternative route choice now!
How lucky of you to be able to spend so much time there!
Do you have any opinions on Orari B&B in Chch? I checked out the Windsor but DH doesn't go for shared bathrooms (we are Italian!)also Pomeroy's Brewery seems nice but I'm not sure about the location.

I like the location of Orari, I haven't stayed there though. My impression was that it might be a bit noisier than Windsor, I remember that it was just a cottage and on busier street (ask for a room in the back). I see that it is highly rated on TripAdvisor. Definitely a step up in price from Windsor.

I don't know anything about Pomeroy's Brewery.

The bathrooms at Windsor are numerous and really kept quite spotless, but I know how it is. (They have a cute little dog would that make up for it?) It's really like an old fashioned boarding house, eg no TVs in the rooms, just in the sitting area, and a big big dining room. It isn't luxury by any means but it's a great location and quiet at night.

It doesn't look like it has any personality, but my cousin just stayed at Chateau on the Park in Chch, and www.wotif.com seems to have it for a good price. Anyone familiar with it?

The location is not very good, on the FAR side of Hagley Park.

I would read the Trip Advisor reviews first.
