Places to Stay- Daintree and/or Cape Tribulation

Hello-

I am planning my honeymoon and would love suggestions ideas on the following-- (I know NOTHING about this!)

Am flying into and staying for a few nights in Cairns and we thought it would be different and fun to stay for a few nights in the Daintree and/or Cape Tribulation area. I am having some difficulty finding accomodations- does anyone have any recommendations, ideas, etc?!?!

Any/All help is appreciated!

Thank you!!!!

amsimon - check www.bnbnq.com.au and look under heading "North" Lots of choices, all run by locals who can give you best advice of what to do and see in area.

Have you considered staying in Ports Douglas for a few days, its very nice and you can do great reef trips. There are some very luxurious resorts which are fit for a honeymoon (Bale being one) we stayed at Thala beach lodge which is nice but i wouldnt put it in the Luxurious category but Eco-expensive and to far from town for me.

Hi amsimon - I second Pat's suggestion, also have a look at www.daintreevillage.asn.au under Accommodation. All sorts of suggestions from hideaway B&B's up to 5-star eco-resorts in the beautiful varied region (rainforest, river, beach, sugar-cane, cattle) between the Daintree and Mossman Rivers.

There is also a downloadable and printable map and complete directory of all accommodation and visitor attractions on the Map page.

Thanks so much!

Anyone know anything about Exotic Fruit Farm as a place to stay? (will i die without AC in January?)

What about Coconut Beach Resort?

Thanks!

I can only share my own experience of course. We love Red Mill House in Daintree Village. Andrew and Trish are fantastic hosts, it's the most relaxing place to stay. www.redmillhouse.com.au. They are also great about helping you figure out what you want to do about the place as well.

Besides that of course, on this board there are a lot of trip reports describing all kinds of great places to stay. You might want to run a search and read what people like and don't like about the places they stay...do you want more of a resort feel or a bed and breakfast feel?

In Cairns itself, if you want a bnb, you might want to look up www.lilybank.com.au where a number of fodorites have stayed.

Under the catagory of 'thing to do', I cannot speak highly enough of the personal tour we took with Pete Baxendell who gives amazing tours of the rainforest. If seeing the rainforest is on your radar, Pete is the guy for you as he will point out and explain all kinds of things that the layman would normally just walk right by (see my trip report if you are interested in this review). His website is
http://www.nqhit.com.au/ and I wouldn't hesitate a second as he books up quickly!
