Hi all
My wife and I are going for our honeymoon to Queenstown for 4 days in february.
I would be greatfull if anyone would recommend the most luxurious place to stay there. I have searched the web pages, but I am not sure on what to pick.
park hotel Vs. millbrook resort Vs. nugget resort Vs. any other place.
Pls. Advice as soon as possible.
thanks
The Parkroyal in Queenstown is a beautiful place. Overlooks the water.

najeeb:
My wife and I stay at the Rydges Hotel
when visiting Queenstown. It is a 4 star hotel overlooking Lake Wakipitu. Just a block or two from the Parkroyal which is also a great place as Pam recommends. Look the Rydges up at www.Rydges.com. Great service. Great staff.
You'll love Queenstown. Be sure to book the TSS Earnslaw dinner cruise for a romantic evening.
Bon voyage
John
I am thankful to both of you.
But I kindly need more information as to which is the best place to stay.
Millbrook Vs. Nugget Vs. Park Royal.
Plz kindly advice.

Firstly congratulations!

Now there are some wonderful lodges in the Queenstown area.

The best is Blanket Bay and is very luxurious and naturally expensive.

Then there is Matakana Lodge and Punatapu Lodge still up there $$$wise.

You mentioned Millbrook v Nugget Point.

The accommodation at Millbrook is lovely. Better I think than Nugget Point which is fine and has a beautiful location and plenty of facilities. Millbrook is 25 minutes from the township and close to Arrowtown. Nugget Point is 10 Minutes from town and close to the Shotover Jet base on the Shotover River.

Try to eat at Gantleys and The Boardwalk for more formal meals and The Cow for great Italian and Pizzas.

Have fun!

Thanks a million Clare.
I am glad i have found great people like you, Pam and John, who help others.
But now i am more confused as i have not heard about blanket bay, and if Millbrook is nicer but further, will it be advisable to stay there??
Also, i kindly needed to know the best hotel or resort there. Plz advice.

najeeb:
I think you're torturing yourself needlessly. One visits New Zealand to enjoy the people, the food, and the magnificient scenery. Any 4 or 5 star hotel and resort will do nicely. Once there, you'll see what I mean. I do think however, that you will be disappointed if you don't stay at a hotel or resort that overlooks Lake Wakipitu.
Go and enjoy.
John

Hi The hardest part about your question is that you do not indicate what is important to you, i.e. a view, location, room service, amenities such as massage, tranquility, luxury, etc. Even resort vs hotel needs to be addressed, along with big facility vs smaller more intimate accomodations.
We were just in Queenstown in late November. We stayed at The Waterfront which is next door to the Parkroyal. The Waterfront was a condominium with a great view of the lake and mountains, kitchen, Queen bec, concierge, living room and an easy location for walking to shops, restaurants, casino. It did not provide room service, massage, etc. The Parkroyal was on one side and Rydges down the way. I would imagine the view is similar if you get a view room, obiviously location is similar. There appeared to be a large amount of tour buses pulling up or parked by these places when we went by them, probably because of the fact that they are larger hotels. Nugget point is out of town and considered a Small luxury hotel of the world, and per Frommers considered one of the top resorts in New Zealand. Per the book it has a truly unforgetable vista and a courtesy shuttle to Queenstown.
Millbrook as indicated is farther away from Queenstown, 20 minutes. Per Frommers it has the best bathtubs and is a multiaward winning destination. They have cottages and villas or generously sized village inn rooms with huge 7 foot wide beds, fireplace walk in wardrobes, etc. They have golf, pools, massage service, Health spa retreat, shuttle service to Queenstown.
With these you give up some on location (access to town) but may pick up on environment and amenities.
One other alternative closer to town is Evergreen Lodge. It includes breakfast and complimentary pre dinner drinks, Only 3 units. It is still a couple miles out of town but per frommers is total indulgence spoiling guests. They have spacious rooms, big beds and baths and private balconies. They provide robes and slippers, private courtyard and 600 CDs to listen to in the common living room, massage service and hairdressing., gym and sauna.
Most New Zealand accomodations provide Queen beds for the most part. If bed size is a consideration, check these out.
Your best bet is to visit all their web sites and see which one is most appealing to you.
Evergreen Lodge - www.sp.net.nz/evergreen.htm
Parkroyal -139 units www.parkroyal.com.au
Nugget Point - 35 units www.nuggeypoint.co.nz
Millbrook Resort 400 beds - www.millbrook.co.nz
Another highly recommended is Punatapu
only 4 units, which is more of a retreat for pampering. Per Frommers set in a pristine alpine landscape in a secluded cove above the lake where people go for privacy, security and personalized comfort. It has a private chef on request, massage therapy, spacious rooms and baths. www.nz.com/Queenstown/Punatapu.
The best bet is to check them out to find what you really want rather than looking for others opinions. Odds are most people have only stayed at one of the places you are considering.
Good Luck, regards, Mary Ann
Najeeb,

I would go with Evergreen Lodge. They won Best Hosted Accommodation award in the New Zealand Tourism Awards this year.

I have spoken to people who have stayed there and have had nothing but wonderful comments.

Have a wonderful time.

Clare
