Just looking in quickly before going to the gym to torture myself for the next hour in an endeavour to regain my youthful figure so I too can become a "schoolie"!
Alan, I so agree with you about the questions - I have found very little to stir me to respond.
LizF - If I had Australian grandchildren of 'schoolies' age I'd be doing the same thing as you have warned your grandson about, and I'd be co-leading with you to have the time banned. When the locals have to move out of Surfers for the two main weeks to ensure they get sleep, and the powers-that-be haven't got the guts or gumption to do something about the invasion then it is a pretty sorry affair. The sad part of the 'schoolies time' is the unnecessary deaths - at least three young people have 'flown', while under the influence of mind-altering drugs and drink, from high balconies in my sister's apartment block.
And I too have nothing to say in defence of Rockhampton except to say that it lead us to Yeppoon, a place we really enjoyed.
