Papua New Guinea

Hi,

Anyone heard of Papua New Guinea?

It is in the Pacific somewhere.

Seems fodor.co fogot to add it to the list :)

Papua New Guinea is on the eastern half of the island of New Guinea, 160 kilometers north of Australia. The western half of the island is Irian Jaya (part of Indonesia). Papua New Guinea comprises both the mainland and hundreds of islands.

We use a hotel there called the Nusa Island Resort. I haven't been there, but I here it's quite nice.

I think Kokoda was writing with tongue firmly in cheek. PNG is definitely missing from the "topics" list on this forum.

I thought so, but thought I'd answer just in case. It's actually listed under Asia on Fodors. The Indonesian connection, I suspect.

Good sleuthing, BobbiOh. I guess it should have been obvious that Irian Jaya would be listed in 'Asia', despite its mostly Melanesian populace. And then it becomes a toss-up whether you associate PNG with the adjoining Indonesian province or with its Pacific neighbours.
