Palm Cove
 

Hi,

My TA recommended staying in Palm Cove any feedback on this suggestion would be great.

I have stayed at the Marriot at Palm Cove on two occasions. It's a very nice area. Lots of nice restaurants and hotels all of which back onto the beach. You'll be about 20 mins drive from Cairns city centre... 10 mins drive from the sky rail and all of the tour operators have buses running through palm cove too.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

See also Sea Temple and there are some really good apartments to rent .The Sebel has excellent restaurants along its water front especially Nu Nu which is awarded and really excellent even for breakfast .It is a lovely quieter spot - no night life - but not deathly quiet .

Sorry I said I'd stayed at the Marriot. I meant the Clarion. When I was there it was called the Clarion Resort, Great Barrier Reef.

AZG - the old Clarion Resort at Palm Cove no longer exists, it was demolished a year or so ago and is now Drift Grand Mercure, 1/2/3 bedroom apartments - www.driftpalmcove.com.au

There's also a new resort with absolute beachfront resort nearing completion just next to Sea Temple (on Palm Cove Village side) and pretty soon the new Argentea development on southern side of Sea Temple will swing into operation. Am not sure if this is a good thing for Palm Cove, the residents I know there don't think so.

Ok. I was there in 2002 and again in 2004. In any case the palm cove area was nice enough. We enjoyed our stay.
