Packing for April weather
My husband and I booked a trip to Australia April 8 through April 23 and would like to know what type of clothes we should pack. We'll have 3 days split between Alice Springs and Ayers Rock and 4 days in Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney. Should we pack some shorts, capris and swim suits?

Most definately for Cairns, possibly daytime in Ayers Rock and perhaps Sydney - Melbourne's weather can be iffy

Uluru can be cold at night. Cairns willbe balmy but the hinterland had winter this year in April, 2 days, and August, 3 days, so take something to layer with a light rain or spray jacket.
Melbourne, well it is in the "temperate" zone ... 'nough said. |
How cold can Uluru get?

This link may be helpful. Minimum this July was -3c. Very often windy around the rock, particularly early in the morning.

So should these.

Sydney could be quite warm but obviously that's the month when the weather is turning. I'd think layers would be best. I can remember one April where it suddenly and dramatically turned cold by mid-month (windy and 16 degrees), and another April where I went and lay on the sand at Palm Beach (one of the northern Sydney beaches) in a bikini at the very end of the month. It must have been mid to high twenties that day. So it's a bit unpredictable. You'll need a range of clothing :)

Thanks for the information. We will be in Sydney for a week mid April. We can definately do layers! We are used to it.

Thanks for your time and the links.
