I'm reading too - want to hear the rest!!
Kay |
I would think going in June or July would be nice weather wise though.>>
definitely. And then you could probably swim in the sea properly instead of in a net! |
Tagging along for the ride...

nelsonian -
If you're a coffee drinker, be sure to try 100% Kona. |
Commiserations Anne on last nights results in the ODI. Silly Stephen left with one over to go!!
|
Annhig, the links to your previous parts are broken ... is that possible?
Lavandula |
lavandula - I just checked and they are working now for me.
i think that fodors was playing up for some people yesterday - see the "changing fonts" threads. aussie - talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory - just hopeless. |
Annhig I tried to buy some alcohol duty free at Hong Kong airport and when they asked me where I was going and I said Brisbane they said I couldn't take into Brisbane. Strange as I could when we came back from the States.
My daughter bought perfume and before boarding they took it off her and put it as checked luggage. Again I had no trouble with perfume coming back from the States. |
october-fun,
there were no such restrictions flying from Christchurch to Sydney. is it that we were flying FROM HK, or INTO Brisbane? weird. |
I think it must be flying from HK. I haven't had anyone I know have trouble flying into from elsewhere.
We stayed at the Salisbury on the 10th floor also. Wonderful view wasn't it. My only downside was the hard mattress. Otherwise the position was excellent. |
When were you there, October-fun? How long did you stay?
I agree that the view was terrific though sadly ours was mostly obscured by rain and fog. but overall as you say, the position, and indeed the hotel were excellent and I would recommend it to anyone. Perhaps we have different ideas about mattresses - I thought ours was very comfortable. later in the trip I had problems with SOFT mattresses, though! |
checking in, as well
|
Yeah, waiting patiently Ann for your Queensland hell....
|
Come on annhig, spill it.
|
Anne, Anne, the Queensland version of Hell please.
The suspense is killing me! |
Annhig we were there the last week of November. Weather was great. A bit overcast some days but we were very lucky no rain except on landing. No fog the whole week.
|
ok, ok, - it's on its way. some things are worth waiting for!
[october fun - we were there from 10-13 November, so we just missed each other. i hope you missed the rain we had for the first 2 days]. |
About Brisbane and sniffer dogs, annhig, the dogs are used to detect fruit, as Queensland has a fruitfly quarantine.
If you fly into Perth, you will have the same experience. Australia is very strong on quarantine protection of agricultural and horticultural industries, so don't feel as if you were being singled out. I have stood in the green lane in Sydney behind people who have had suitcases full of sausage and cheese detected by the beagles. Pardon us, but they're our rules. |

I didn't. Pardon us, but they're our rules.>> just commenting, not criticising. Apart from stopping us bringing in water that we'd bought airside in HK. That was just daft. IMHO |
It's Australia Day, yaaaaay......the next episode would be such a nice gift for all us Aussies.
