One day in Fiji
 

Hi,

We are flying from Christchurch NZ to LA on Fiji Airlines and we have 23 hours between the flights on Fiji. Which resort would you recommend? We love beautiful beaches:)

Your best beaches are located on the northern outter Islands.
Go to Denarau Island shopping centre - over thirty minutes drive; ADD time to arrange this in "Fiji time". There are nine resorts you can walk through and an international golf course at Denarau.
I think the Sofitiel has the best beach, as you can sit under shady palm trees; it also has plenty of expensive toys to ride on. The Hilton is often recomended but their beach has no shelter. You can walk between these two resorts.
At the shopping centre there are many very good restuarants and a good bakery - plus you can hire all types of boats and tours.
Remember to make allowance for it being very hot - too hot for walking during middle of day. $F7.50 for taxi from Denarau shops to Denarau Resort.
Don't be tempted to travel to the southern coast; you get unsettled weather and limit your options to one resort.
