NYT Sept, 12 article re: TASMANIA

Fodorites both pacific and argumentative ,

Anyone interested in/ or travelling to Tasmania might take a look at the Sept 12, 2004 New York Times article
about Tasmania in "The Sophisticated Traveller " section.

It brought back pleasant memories for me.

AD I tried to look up an article in the NYT but I had to be registered and pay - or was that the London Times - anyway I think you do have to be registered so if you can cut and paste the item I for one would be very interested.

If you like this sort of stuff
Richard Flanagan wrote
"Death of a River Guide"
which imho sums up Tassie (warts and all) pretty well.

I wish persons wouldn't write articles like this in overseas newspapers, it will only start a flood of tourists wanting to visit, the last true wilderness region of Australia. Now we will have any man & his dog coming to Tassie.
I think the author forgot to mention the beautiful beaches in the Bay of Fires National Park, where I swam one February, just pure magical, no one else except myself on this beautiful beach, with aqua blue ocean.

Sniff, sniff but it was lovely Trop.
And thank you Margo for posting it here and AD for suggesting it.

Liz, you do have to register for the NYT, but reading is free until such time as the article is archived (can't remember whether that's one week or two). Movie and I think book reviews can be accessed free ad infinitum. You can go back and read original reviews of movies back to the silent era - a great resource, and a great paper in general.
