Next week: is 6:30pm too late to catch the views up on Queenstown gondola?

We'll be in Queenstown next week. 6:30pm seems to be the earliest time we could make it to the gondola station. Our booking for the buffet would be at 7:30pm - would it be a bit too dark for us to enjoy the views?

Thanks,
Kat

You should be fine - it isn't getting dark in NZ until well after 8pm at present.

We took the gondola ride last week. We didn't eat there but did the luge ride which was a lot of fun. However, the luge closes at 6:30 (or did a week ago). Check it out before going up if you want to luge (as you mentioned in an earlier post). Personaly, I would opt for one of the fine restaurants in town over a buffet in a tourist spot. You will probably even save some money.

There may or may not be any view depending on the weather. You can always make the decision that afternoon or evening.

Hi there Kat,

I am currently in Southland on business and can advise that the sun is setting here around 9:50 PM. Since Queenstown is only about 100 miles from here I would suggest that sunset will be a similar time if not later (Given that the longest day is next week).

Hopefully the weather clears up for you. It has been unseasonably cold and wet down here. (though it is dryer around Queenstown)

Cheers

Steve
