New Zealand- what can we do in 7 days?
Hello,
My family of 4 is travelling to Auckland mid September. How can we best utilize the 7 days we have? My wife is worried that there might not be enough to do for that long. I have kids 9 and 12. Your responses appreciated. Suhas |
Hi Suhas,
You don't really tell us what your interests are, but off the top of my head, I'd suggest picking either the North or South Island and spending your time there. The easiest (less travelling in a 7 day period) would be to leave Auckland and explore the Bay of Islands, Coromandel and maybe Rotorua; I'm thinking the kids would like learning about the Maori culture and seeing bubbling mud pools. Hope this is helpful! Melodie Certified Kiwi Specialist |
Fear not, there's plenty to keep you busy for a week. In fact, I'd be surprised if you didn't find yourselves wishing you had a whole lot longer...
Pick an island and go from there. The kids might enjoy Zorbing on the NI. |
We spent 10 days on the North Island in 2004. Click on my name, and you'll find my trip report. Maybe it will give you some ideas.

Hi. I agree with in just choosing either north or south island if you only have 7 days. since you will be here at the beginning of spring then there is nothing more beautiful than the South Island. Fly into Christchurch and drive down to Queenstown.

Or, fly to Queentown and drive to Christchurch, then fly back to Auckland the day before you leave.
