new zealand hotels

Aloha folks,
I'll be in New Zealand in April and will be staying 3 nights at each of the following hotels(packaged unescorted tour): Holiday Inn Christchurch, Mercure Grand Hotel St. Moritz in Queenstown, and Mercure Hotel Windosr in Auckland. Has anyone stayed at these hotels or have any comments or suggestions?

Holiday Inn in Christchurch is a good ? walk into the Central City. Best to get a taxi from there at night and not walk it.

Thanks!
I plan to rent a car to get around, but still would appreciate information on the other hotels.

As I mentioned in other posts, I am completely sold on B & B's in NZ after our recent trip. Check out Coronet View in Queenstown, they touched our hearts.

We used the Jasons Directory for our motels. The Blue Peaks Motel in Queenstown was lovely for 100NZ (3 1/2 stars)ask for 2nd floor away from road facing the remarkables, easy to walk to center of town. ALana

Can't comment on your hotel choice since we chose to experience the local hospitality on our trip. We stayed in B&Bs all the way around New Zealand. In Christcurch you should try Riverview Lodge, Auckland's Devonport Villa and Queenstown's Stone House. All were excellent.
