New Zealand for 5 months (am I crazy?)

I plan on moving to New Zealand (with work permit) in May. I gather the winter there isn't that bad. Am I correct? What are average temperatures?

Does anyone know of any employment resources in New Zealand? I have an MBA and MIM. I'm interested in:

International Investment
E-commerce Consulting

Thanks for your help,
Andrew

As to the winter weather, it depends on what you mean by "not that bad". New Zealand is not a tropical paradise in the nature of Tahiti or Hawaii; in fact, it's the closest country to the Antarctic. To put it briefly and simply -- in the North Island, the winters are cold and wet; in the South Island, the winters are cold and dry. Still, there's no snow (except in the mountains) so if you come from the midwest or the northeast, you'll probably find the winters to be fairly mild.

Visit http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ about obtaining work visas. It appears to be pretty easy provided you're a Korean national assisting in deer velvet production.

I've been accepted into a special exchange program that will provide the work permit. I just have to specify how long I want to stay (up to 12 months). I will get excited about New Zealand when I'm back from my trip to Russia.

Climate is mid-temperate but yes it gets cold, rainy and windy in winter. snow on mountains. Prob around 10 degrees celsius. For employment see xtra.co.nz, monster.com, eventures.co.nz (setting up international softbank ecommerce companies and recruiting at the moment), maybe nzherald.co.nz, but xtra should lead you in the right direction. also nbr.co.nz. nbr and independent are key business papers for jobs, also infotech weekly, should refer to it at nzherald.
