Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb

It’s a fantastic experience! Well worth the cost if you can afford it.
Never heard of anyone who didn’t enjoy it, irrespective of what time of day that they did it.
Another option for the time / $ strapped is to walk across the Harbour Bridge.

It’s free, fabulous views to the east and you can add the Southern Pylon lookout for <$20. http://www.pylonlookout.com.au/
Quickest would be to take a train or ferry to Milsons Point & walk back to the CBD. The pedestrian path is on the eastern (Opera House) side. Cyclists only on the western side. Takes me about 15-20 mins with photo stops.
My favourite is to take a ferry to McMahons Point

Walk up Blues Point Road, wander through Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden, at Lavender Bay. https://www.wendyssecretgarden.org.au/
Lunch? Picnic in the Gardens ( Delicado for provisions https://www.delicado.com.au/ )
The Kirribilli Club ( across the road from Wendy’s Garden) take ID. Great views from the balcony. Good range of food at Club prices https://www.kirribilliclub.com.au/
Or - my favourite - walk around to Ripples, just near the Luna Park face in Milsons Point.https://www.ripplesmilsonspoint.com.au.
Good idea to book as they get busy.
TIP: Take your swimmers if it’s a hot day. The North Sydney Olympic Pool is right next door

If you can’t get into Ripples, there is a good range of cafes& restaurants in Kirribilli - just walk through the underpass to Broughton Street.
... and that brings you to the entrance to the Harbour Bridge pedestrian path up the steps just south of the Milsons Point railway station.
The exit is via the Cumberland Street steps in The Rocks. If it’s the weekend, The Rocks Market will be on.

WE- me, my husband and our 12 & 14 year old girls did it years ago. I am really not good with heights, and was hoping that the weather would force us to cancel. It didn't though, so we went at our assigned time.
They do a really good orientation, letting you practice on steps similar to the bridge using your anchor straps. You wear a jumpsuit over your clothes, and everything is double checked to make sure it cannot come off, and then they even breathalyze you! While walking you are attached to everyone else, and the leader guides you through headsets.
In the end it was tons of fun. We had arranged to be on a trip that was in late afternoon, so sunny on the way up and night lights as we descended. There was not nearly as much climbing as I expected, most of the time you are on shallow steps. It's one of our favorite travel memories.
My brother, who lives near Brisbane, did it a few months later based on our excitement, and my sister and her family also did it. Everyone thought it was well worth the money!

We did it in '04. It's not cheap. We worked a sunset-ish time. After orientation, ended up ascending during early twilight. Very cool. Will do again when the hobbits are older and we're back in Sydney.
<<Take your swimmers if it’s a hot day>>
That's Aussie for "bring your swimsuit."
And what Bokhara is also on about is that the CBD, The Rocks and Circular Quay are all on the south end of the bridge. Taronga Zoo, Milson's Point, that hideous amusement park are all on the north side of the bridge.

Or have a drink at the bar on top of the Shangri-La hotel at sunset. It's 1/4 the price and you get a drink. Fantastic view. Get there just before it opens at 5 to get a window seat.
Best thing of all to do in Sydney, invite Bokhara for lunch or dinner. She's the BEST! And if you're lucky, she'll become a friend for life. Get her to go with you to Pilu in Freshwater.
