Hi, Martha!
Once you get further north than the Tropic of Capricorn (not too far north of Brisbane), terms like "Fall" cease to have any meaning. Your beach resorts, whether it be in northern Queensland, the Cook Islands, New Caledonia, or wherever, will always be warm.... the seasons there tend to be either rainy or not-very-rainy. I think March/April on the Barrier Reef in Australia is well past the really rainy time of the year.

March / April are wonderful times of year in all of Aust, NZ & the Pacific islands. You can easily get to Fiji from either Aust or NZ with very frequent services . I don't think the Cook Islands get quite so many flights.

You could get a flight to Australia via Fiji and then do a side trip - or talk to Qantas about this - about stopping in NZ on your way home.
There are beach resorts all the way up the eastern Australian coast so all you have to do is pick one i.e. if you have Hilton points to use then you could stay at the Conrad Hilton Hotel/Casino at the Gold Coast and get the mono-rail to the beach and around the Oasis centre with all its out door dining etc. Or you could stay on one of the Queensland Islands in either the Whitsunday Group or further north off Port Douglas/ Cairns. Or you could stay on Hinchinbrook Island and have this rather large island to enjoy and explore. We have the lot - just tell us what you want.
