Mossman Gorge...Should I Visit?

Mossman Gorge: Is it worth the time to visit on a busy day that includes the Rainforest Environmental Centre, Daintree River ferry crossing and a river cruise. What is special or unique about it? I thought I had seen some comments on this Board indicating that Mossman Gorge wasn't really worth the time to visit, but memory may serve me wrong.

Martha -

I spent a half day going to Mossman Gorge from PD when I was there last year. I enjoyed Mossman Gorge, it's very peaceful walking through the rain forest and the river is nice, with a couple of great swimming holes. It may be too much to pack into the day you've already planned, however.

Martha
Nice, but not an absolute must-see. You have a lot of other things on by the sound of it, why not leave something for the next visit?
Kay

Martha, I would agree with both the above post. If you do go you could see quite a bit in 1. hour ( including a swim)
Mossman Gorge is a nice place to visit for a couple of hours on your way to/back from Daintree and Cape Trib. There's a good rainforest walk and you can have a swim in the cold, crisp water (although I suspect its fairly dry at the moment).

Don't pay to take a tour to Mossman Gorge - it's not worth it, however if you are driving you can kill an hour at the place. It's an easy stop enroute to or from Daintree. The road to the gorge gets very narrow at the end, almost one lane with vehicles parked at each side due to the very small parking lot at the end. Its O.K. to see one time, however if you have seen almost any mountain stream that tumbles down a rocky gorge with a couple of small swim holes in it, you won't be overly impressed. The swim holes are probably used by the locals a lot as a good place to cool off on those hot days.
