melbourne, au - where's a nice weekend retreat

have a family member moving there and getting married. for a wedding present, i was thinking of buying them a gift certificate for a hotel/resort for a weekend getaway. maybe within 3 hours (they live in keilor lodge area which i believe is in north, melbourne). i know nothing about the area. any suggestions on a nice beach place to visit for a weekend in the area? they have a car.

Chateau Yering Station in the Yarra Valley .A wonderful old homestead with a lovely restaurant , vineyard and luxe accomodation all within 1.5 to 2 hours max drive from Keilor . See www.chateauyering.com.au

Above two choices are excellent. Another is the Lake House at Daylesford. See www.lakehouse.com.au
This one is closer to Keilor than the other two, probably only an hour. Having said that, the other two destinations might push them to explore a bit further. Daylesford is an easy day trip for them at any time.
