Melbourne Area - good Guesthouse or B+B? Any suggestion?
 

We need to go to Victoria in Nov and would like to stay in a very good guesthouse for 2 weeks.
The guesthouse should be preferably located somewhere close to or in Caroline Springs.

Experiences? Suggestions?

I've lived in Melbourne nearly all my life and confess I had to Google Caroline Springs to see where it was. It's not in a great area for tourists, I assume you must have family living there? If it's a typical residential suburban area, there probably aren't any B&Bs or guesthouses there but you can start looking at these sites:

I was surprised to find a Mercure hotel in Caroline Springs, there must be more out there than I thought. Perhaps I need to visit the west more often.

yes it's full of new houses, schools and all that goes with a new development.

Right - Caroline Springs is a very new development and yes we are on a rather unpleasant mission as we have to clear the house of one of my deceased family members :-(

Actually we stayed at the Mercure in Sep and it was pleasant; clean room, nice bathroom, kind of kitchenette (without plates, stove and major cutlery but still good) incl. coffee making facilities, free wifi and pc terminal in the lobby.

This time I thought to get a more reasonable accommodation for 2 1/2 weeks.

I just did a search for apartments in/near Caroline Springs and came up with this place - www.florentinevillas.com.au. I don't know anything about it at all but you may wish to investigate it. It would certainly give you a lot more room than a hotel and a full kitchen so you wouldn't be forced to eat out all the time. The apartments are actually in Sydenham (I did'n't come up with anything closer) which, depending on the actual locations of the two places would be about a 10 - 15 min drive between them.

Good luck with it spassvogel. I don't envy you. Hope you find somewhere great to stay so at least in your downtime you can relax and enjoy your surroundings.

Thank you for the link. That looks quite good! It's slighty cheaper than the Mercure but yes - more space which is a good thing.

Spassvogel,I hope it works out. As mentioned I had never even heard of the place before but it looks OK on the site. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who lives on that side of the city to ask about it. Best of luck with your unenvied job and I hope you can fit in a bit of downtime as well.
