Meal plan or not?
 

Is it really worth taking out a meal plan (B&D) at the Moorea Beachcomber or pay as you go? I calculated it would cost my 3 family members $2800 CDN for 10 days. That seems pricey but will it end up costing us more if we don't take the plan? Please help!!!

Unless you and your family are heavy eaters, you will not save money with a meal plan.<BR><BR>You can generally order from the menu for the same price at most resorts in French Polynesia. And, with the heat/humiditiy/activities, many travelers find that they eat less in FP than at home.<BR><BR>Last, there are convenient markets where you can buy croissants, french bread, fruit, lunchmeat, cheese, etc, for a fraction of the meal plan cost, as well as interesting restaurants that will pick you up at the hotel when you call ahead.<BR><BR>The only travelers who seem to get their money's worth on meal plans are honeymooners who don't want to leave the hotel : )

And there are so many great restaurants on the island that will pick you up at the hotel. Why limit yourself to the same food every night? Te Honu Iti and Lanivera (Floating restaurants) were our favorites.

I agree with above posters. Pass on the meal plan. The local restaurants on Bora Bora are both better and cheaper than the motu resort restaurants.

A lot of places will send a private car to pick you up and take you back. Just ask at the hotel desk. A lot of the fun is trying different places.
