I think we need a new version of
"The 12 days of Christmas": "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me one box of Timtams..." , etc Now all join in for the chorus. A/D |
AndrewDavid,
Maybe "On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me...Two boxes of Tim Tams .....etc. Dot |
Hello All,
Perhaps I should take the 2 boxes of Tim Tams (Tia Maria & Chewy Caramel) I brought back with me from NZ and auction them off! However, last time in Oz I bought a huge "assortment" package which was nice -- I couldn't find that in New Zealand....sigh.... Actually I plan "sharing" them with my friend Lisa (who used to own Punga Cove Resort at one time). She gave me a shopping list and I have her Macleans toothpaste and Imperial Leather soap. Figured I'd have her over for dinner sometime this month for a Kiwi Dinner... Lamb Roast, Kumara (ok, they'll be the regular American sweet potatoes but it's the best I can do)! and Tim Tams for dessert! Btw, the Cadbury tour is wonderful -- I did it in Tasmania and I'm not even a big chocolate person and found the tour/machinery very interesting and couldn't believe the amount of samples they give! We discovered Tim Tams on our first trip to Oz a few years ago and we just returned last week and our new "find" were the aforementioned "Lamington Cakes". Delicious. We were introduced to them while at afternoon tea at Harry's Hut during an everglades tour on the upper reaches of the Noosa River. Later in the trip we enjoyed them at David Jones new food hall in Melbourne.
In DJs we got a kick out of the small "American" section that had Jif peanut butter, Aunt Jemima pancake mix, French's mustard, and even some Zatarain's creole mix. |
Pinot Noir - glad you liked our lamos - they were discussed recently on a thread "Local recipes/Specialty Foods 11/17/2004.

While in San Antonio, Texas recently, we were amazed to find an Aussie food store just a block away from the Alamo! We went in and were blown away by all the Australian products they had. Smiths crisps, burger rings, teas, and of course, Tim Tams. We bought their entire stock of original Tim Tams and brought them home to Florida!
Luckily my sister lives in San Antonio and works about 5 minutes from the store so I can restock my supply without too much trouble. If anyone else is interested, the store name is About Australia and their phone is 210-299-1077. They are online at http://about-australia-shop.com. Now if I could just find a US supplier of Bundy... |
