luxury hotels in Christchurch

Looking for suggestions for a centrally located luxury hotel for 2 nights in October for our honeymoon.

Hi;

This may get you started!
I stayed at the Riverview Lodge a while back- not sure it is classed as luxury but it was pretty special just the same. Do a search and check it out. They have many different rooms - we had an apartment with kitchen in an Edwardian House. It is central. Christchurch is not large so maybe why you are not finding real luxury.

A good restaurant for a special meal is Le Retour on the Avon River nearby.
Bon Voyage.

We were in Christchurch last month. We stayed at the Millennium. We had a very nice room with a beautiful view of the cathedral. It is nicely located in the Cathedral Square. Be sure to check out the Botanic Gardens. It is a gorgeous place.

Hi Bisgirl (again),

For true luxury hotels, my suggestions would be:

Charlotte Jane B&B
Heritage (recommend the historical part)
The George
Huntley House

Hope this is helpful!

For something truly special, you might consider Grasmere Lodge.

It's not exactly central (90 minutes from CH!), but would make a great spot for a honeymoon.

PS - They're offering 2 nights for the price of one from May-October.

I have stayed in the historical building which is part of the Heritage Hotel. We had a 3 bedroom,3 bathroom apartment with washer/dryer and huge windows looking out at the Cathedral. It was lovely but maybe not as luxurious as you are wanting.

Thanks for all the help. We decided on a one-bedroom suite in the historical blg.

We stayed in a two bedroom, two floor suite at the Heritage and thought it was great! Used the Entertainment book for 50% off and the price was quite nice.

what is the entertainment book? Where do I get one?

I got my Entertainment book through a friend of mine in Auckland. It is a book with savings for lodgings, restaurants etc. Never was asked for proof of the book. Could e-mail the hotel and ask if the Entertainment rate was available.
