Luggage for four week trip
 

Hi there,<BR>What type of luggage is best to take on a 4 week trip, which begins and ends in nice hotels, but has also stretches in motorhomes and moving accommodation each night? On one hand, we don't want to take huge backpacks into the hotels (plus plan to bring some nice clothes for city evenings). On the other hand a large, hard-shell suitcase may not be suitable on the road. We're not taking any overnight tours, and we will have daypacks with us all, but what do you recommend as our main piece of luggage (one each)? I know many others have taken similar trips to us. This is our honeymoon, not that that particularly affects luggage.<BR><BR>Thanks,<BR>Anna

Have you lokked at the large Large soft sports type luggage which have the collapsable handle &amp; wheels.<BR>They are very good &amp; when you get home you don't have the hard sided cases to contend with. They usually have lots of pockets so you can seperate toileteries, shoes etc. They come in all sizes in Australia so you would have to be able to get them all over the world.<BR>I also would be taking a on board case, make sure if you are travelling domestic that it is the smaller one as international size is not permitted on interstate flights. <BR>Buy one once again with the pull up handle &amp; wheels.<BR> Try to keep this one empty when leaving home or better still buy it in Australia (it may be a lot cheaper... bought one for $69.Aust.Airport Brand.) then fill it up with all the goodies you buy along the way &amp; all the tourist brochures you will collect.<BR>Most of all enjoy your honeymoon.

The luggage we use most and find most practical is a travelpack - you can use it as a backpack or zip away the straps and use it as a soft-sided suitcase. They are quite common, I would try a large hiking store first rather than a luggage store. We mainly use ours as a suitcase but it's handy to be able to carry it on your back if need be.<BR>Kay

AnnaG:<BR>Keep in mind that where ever you travel there's probably a laundromat nearby. Most nice hotels have laundry facilities.<BR>John

Hi Anna<BR><BR>The advice I would give is &quot;travel light&quot;. If you're touring around Australia you don't want to be lugging heavy luggage with you everywhere. We were given this same advice and we wound up taking small, lightweight luggage (on wheels) with clothing that was washable. It worked wonderfully as we had packed necessities for one month with laundry trips every few days. We packed two nice shirts/tops and slacks for dining out and that worked well. <BR><BR>Have a great trip!!!<BR><BR>
