Looking for Travel Tips/Suggestions

Our daughter is in Australia for her junior year in college. She has been in Sydney since July (yes, she was able to experience the Olympics -- & loved it!). She is coming home for their summer break and my husband, our 27 yr old son and I plan to accompany her back in February before her classes begin again.

We would like to experience New Zealand, Tasmania, Great Barrier Reef and Sydney all together. Our son will fly home (Boston) after two weeks and my husband and I plan to help Sue move into her apartment and then we hope to do the Great Ocean Drive (just the two of us) -- totalling about 3 weeks for us.

Of course money is a consideration -- but we do enjoy good hotels/restaurants.

Bottom line -- we could use some help with airlines, hotels, good deals, etc.

Thanks,

Jul

I think you may be trying to do too much in a short time, the minimum for Tasmania as a driving tour is 7 days, New Zealand North Island is 10 days
Queensland Barrier Reef depending on which part but once again a whistle stop 4 days. The Great Ocean Road, depending on how far you wish to travel you can do it as a very long day tour from Melbourne 13 hours, to drive yourself leisurely three days
cheers

Go to the official Great Ocean Road web site at: greatoceanrd.org.au

You will need at least a couple of days to travel the whole length of the Ocean road and back to Melbourne again. I'd recommend staying in Lorne one night, Port Campbell the second night then driving back via the Colac Hwy to Melbourne which will cut at least an hour or two off your journey.
A recommendation for a great restaurant just off the Great Ocean Road; Chris' at Beacon Point.

When in Sydney go to the Hunter Valley if you drink wine for a great day. We went on a Mercedes for $89 with a guy who reallly knew his stufff and had vioideos etc. for the return journey. Look at www.visitours.com.au

I was in Sydney for 2 weeks at the end of Oct beginning of Nov. This was my 1st time to Oz and we're already talking about going back. Don't get overwelmed, take in what you can and enjoy. When booking your flight check into the Aussie domestic flights. They say it's better if we book from the US. We used Quantas through LA and were quite pleased. Be ready to be pampered.... The Aussies are very polite! If you have any questions feel free to email me...
