Looking for great dining in Sydney in May!

We're going to Syndey in May/June and will be staying at the Ritz. It's our anniversary while we are there, and I'm looking for a restaurant where we can have a romantic, unforgettable dinner. A place with great views and food - any ideas?

You probably could do better on food, but for an unforgettable view, I would suggest the revolving restaurant on the top of the AMC Centrepoint Tower. There is a buffet on one level and an a la carte restaurant on the other level. I would vote for the a la carte restaurant with a late seating - after 8:30 - to avoid as many tourists as possible. The view is wonderful.

Jen, there is also a very good restaurant in the Opera House at Circular Quay, which gets good reviews and obviously would have a spectacular harbour view.

We enjoyed The Wharf, which is located at the end of one of the Piers on Syndey Harbor - great views of the harbor and bridge - recommended to us by some locals (not listed in any tourist guides that we found)

Centrepoint is not anniversary material. Upmarket cafeteria with a good view. The Wharf and the Opera House are better suggestions.
My anniversary recommendations would be.

In the city for a great view and good food. Level 41. Book now to ensure a window table. Best view from any toilet anywhere in world. You have got to go even if you don't have to go.

Other favourite places are outside of the city itself.

Jonah's at Whale Beach. On a cliff overlooking the ocean. In May/June it will be dark early so a lunch would be ideal here. You can arrange seaplane transporation from the city.

Also in the suburbs. The Cottage Point Inn for a Sunday lunch. On the banks of the Hawkesbury River - they have a lunch seaplane package. A sunny Sunday is the best time. The best seating is outdoors (request a table by the watersedge) Don't go on a cold or rainy day.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I'll be looking into Level 41 - any toilet that has a great view needed to be checked out!
