Looking for a One Nighter within 2 Hours of Sydney Airport

Our wonderful time in Australia is coming to an end. we'll be in Sydney beginning this Saturday for a week before we fly home. Looking for a place to stay for one night before we go to Sydney. We'll be coming from Canberra. Would like to be about 2 hours from the Sydney airport where we will turn in our rental. Would love a small, charming town, on the water or inland. Willing to pay up to $225 AUD.
Would love some suggestions. thanks!

Berry is two hours from Kingston Smith Sydney airport. A lovely spot, by 7-mile beach, with wine industry and many more goodies in the area.

See http://berry.org.au

What you do is drive from Canberra to Batemans Bay on the coast, have yourselves a good fish lunch, and carry on up the coast to Berry. A lovely drive.

If you are driving through to the airport, be aware that traffic snarls can be horrendous on all roads leading there.

You'll need to add some extra travel time! Di

Kiama!

Kiama is nice, too, and shaves a half-hour off your travel time. What time is your flight?

They're different but I don't think you could go wrong with either Berry or Kiama as far as a pretty place to stop for a rest. We just did a road side hotel along the way, so no good recommendation there.

Stuff to see between Canberra and Sydney though is plenty. Along with with the picturesque little town of Berry, Hyamns beach on Jarvis Bay was the whitest sand beach I've ever seen. Fitzroy Falls in Kangaroo Valley is nestled in the bush with a great lookout down an easy walk. And Pebbly Beach to see (maybe) surfing kangaroos. (ok, more like kangaroos wading in the surf, but still...)

Thanks all! Will check them out.
We don't have a flight, we're returning our rental car at the airport and going on to Sydney for a week. Just don't want a long drive to Sydney that day.

I agree - anywhere in a rough arc Milton, Gerringong, Kiama, Berry, would give you lots to see & do in beautiful landscapes. Wineries ( some with great bistros), interesting little villages & hamlets, markets & restaurants.

Look up the tv series, The Village Vets - it's set in & around Berry and features the real life Vet practice of a couple of young men who met at Uni, moved to Berry & have made their lives there - and the people & animals of the district. The also have a practice in Kangaroo Valley.

Coming back from Canberra, you could divert through Batemans Bay or continue in to the Southern Highlsnds & come down through Kangaroo Valley. Either is a lovely drive.

Well we debated where to stay and picked Berry. Then it was which route and we picked thru th Southern Highlands. We got to the Highlands and liked it so much decided to stay there. We spent time exploring, going to Fitzroy falls--spectacular-- and then decided dinner on the coast with a stop in Berry along the way. Absolutely beautiful drive both ways we went. thanks so much for your suggestions.

Now I'm looking for restaurant recs for Sydney, we like pretty much all food types. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
