Looking for 50th Anniversay Trip

We celebrate our 50th next November so looking for a special place. That month narrows down where to travel. What are some of your best suggestions. We are active, fit & under 70 & love a place with history. Greece was my first choice but weather wouldn't be great. Looking forward to hearing from you.

You've posted on the Australia and Pacific forum. Long way from Greece. A mistake? Or are you really considering this vast area?

I am aware that I posted on this forum. Just letting you know that when I first started searching my #1 chose was Greece but due to weather plus a bit of unrest there I am searching the world for where is the best place to travel in November. So now I'm just seeing where would be your most favorite place you have traveled & is November a good month to go there. Australia has long been on our bucket list & I believe the weather is good that time of year.

November is spring in New Zealand and Australia and a good time to visit. Queenstown and Wanaka are a good choice for New Zealand and in Australia my favourite place is the Sunshine Coast and specifically Noosa. Should be a great time to plan trip here.
How much time will you have?
Bay of Islands is probably the historical area of New Zealand as the Treaty of Waitangi was signed there in 1840. History downunder is not that old in comparison with other places.

The weather is usually very pleasant in the southern states, warming up to hot & stormy in the Top End & Far North Queensland.

You could have a fabulous month visiting Tasmania, parts of NSW, SA, Vic - and/or depending in how you routes your trip, parts if WA & Qld, too.

We usually suggest 3-4 places in a month - mainly because we have a rather large island, sparsely populated, and travelling times are usually considerably more than most visitors envisage.

Suggest you have a look at the Visit Australia website. See what's on offer & come back with lots of specific questions.

Notwithstanding my 3-4 places comment, if I had were a visitor with a month to play with in November, I'd probably spend 10 days in Tasmania, a week for Melbourne - Great Ocean Road - Kangaroo Island & a week in Sydney - Blue Mountains - South Coast - possibly Canberra.

Blue Mountains can be done as a day trip.

Australia, apart from the major cities, is a country best explored & enjoyed with a combination of internal flights & driving.

Australia and NZ are beautiful places, but neither is particularly steeped in history.

Having said that, November is a good time to visit Western Australia and of course New Zealand. South Australia is also a good option, but it could well be heating up by then.

Congratulations on 50 years, impressive indeed.

Assume Mel means European history - there is plenty of evidence of 60,000 years of history although you have to look harder than in Europe .

Yes, that's what I meant northie - I was thinking in terms of architecture, as in Greece.

Didn't mean to overlook the tens of thousands of years of Abroginal history or the Maori, the first inhabitants of NZ.
