Litchfield or Kakadu?
I'll be in Darwin for three nights at the end of November. Current plans are to spend a day sightseeing in Darwin and to take a day trip on the other day. I'm looking at either Kakadu or Litchfield. From what I read, there may be road closures in Kakadu - and one day is likely not enough. Will I have the same issues in Litchfield? Which would you choose for one day at the end of November? Thanks.

I will suggest you both place in your visit and extend your stay. One day will not enough for you to visit any of this places.

We spent about 7 nights in Kakadu and about 5 in Litchfield. One day only in either really is ...well .....but if you have to I would suggest a day tour to Litchfield.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, we won't be able to stay any longer as Darwin is a stop on a much longer trip. It was the most logical connection I could find between Bali and Uluru, so I thought I would spend a few days as I've never been to the Top End. Sounds like one day wouldn't make sense for either, so perhaps we should spend both our days in Darwin and take it slower. If there are any side trips from Darwin that seem more reasonable, please chime in. Thanks.

it is the beginning of the wet season so you could be unlucky. You can definitely do a day trip to Litchfield, we did the first time we went to Darwin. Second time we did spend 2 nights there, but a day trip is not out of the question. It is really spectacular. There is enough to see and explore in Darwin for 3/4 days

Thanks Anne Marie. Are there anything particular that you would recommend checking out in Darwin?

I would suggest having a look at the Northern Territory Museum and Art Gallery. How about a walk around the Heritage Trail?
There's lots to do in and around the edge of Darwin. |
Dottyp, thank you for your suggestions. I'm already planning on checking out the NT Museum and Art Gallery while I'm in Darwin. Will take a look at the Heritage Trail as well.
