liquor prices

Is liquor expensive in Australia? Should we bring some with us?

Depends where you are from I expect - if its the Philippines then bring some rum with you o/w you should be able to get rum/brandy/scotch/gin for about $19.95 per bottle at the duty free as you "enter" Australia

Thanks Liz......would that advice apply to visitors from the States? Are storeprices much higher than in the duty free shops?

LizF Dec 23rd, 2001 11:07 AM

everyone can buy "grog" on their way in at a Duty Free shop at the airport. I should have said that the cost was $19.95 Aust which is about $10US. As you can only bring in two litres each person it wouldn't help much bringing in any more from the US. However the cost in bottle shops is not too much more anyway and when I was in the US a couple of weeks ago I didn't find that it was any cheaper there at all.<BR>
