Le Meridien Bora Bora
 

My husband and I are leaving for Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora in 2 weeks. Does anybody have any feedback on Le Meridien Bora Bora, specifically the OWB's? I read Tiffany's epinion on the Sheraton Moorea and found it very informative--thanks Tiffany!

They are beautiful. We loved them. Very eloquent. The glass floor makes you really feel like you are staying over the water. We went to four different islands, and these were the best. It is a large resort, but lots of space to yourself. I will say, it was a five min. Walk to get from our OWB to end of pier. But hey, exercise is a good thing. <BR><BR>Just a note, the snorkeling is not that great around the OWB, so don't expect that, but there are some fish. The lagoon is beautiful and has great sea turtles you can watch if you snorkel in the lagoon. <BR><BR>Food was decent. Do Not go to Asian buffet. They should stick to french cooking. Horrible. But the market buffet was good. I do not recommend eating there the whole time. You can easily go to other restarurants. The ala carte rest. okay. <BR><BR>Try the bar at sunset. Really pretty and special. If you just have a standard cocktail, not expensive...but if the fruity concoctions are your thing, then go for it. We had gin and tonics...<BR><BR>When you first get there, I would recommend you take the shuttle to mainland, walk out of station take a right, within half block is a little store, only open in morning. you can buy bread, water, snacks...I would load up and have in my room. We found we didn't need to eat three large meals each day, but again, people are different. <BR><BR>Last piece of advice....go to the other restaruants is a very easy journey, don't think it is difficult and eat the whole time at Le Meridian. Just call rest. Make a reservation, they will pick you up at the mainland drop point. They will even tell you which shuttle to take. So easy and fun to get away. <BR><BR>There is also a car, bike, scooter rental service right at mainland drop point, so you can rent a vehicle an explore the main island. <BR><BR><BR><BR>

Terri,<BR> Thank you very much for the info about Le Meridien! We were hoping to find a little store to stock up on snacks, etc. And the tips on the hotels buffets are much appreciated. I'm sure we will enjoy our stay as much as you did. Thanks again!!!!

I agree with Terri's post - she had excellent suggestions. We LOVED the Le Meridien in BB. We didn't eat that many dinners at the hotel because we always went to the island itself and checked it out. As Terri said, the restaurants will pick you up from the landing - but we did rent a car one day and enjoyed driving around the island. We also took one of the Jeep tours which was fun, but the absolute best was a sunset cruise aboard a big Cat. We did a snorkeling trip on the boat - then stayed on for the sunset cruise. Fabulous!!!!

Hi again Denise, its Vanessa. I just thought of something silly about the inroom safes. They use a punch in code that you will make up when you get there but be very careful when using it because if you accidently press a wrong number it will stay locked. Yes...it happened to me on like the 4th night, but now you wont have to panic like I did, the manager does have a key to open it.

Vanessa,<BR> Thanks very much; I actually did want to know if they have in-room safes, and I will be careful with the code. I also thought of something else...I think I know what I want to wear at night while on Moorea and BB, but what about my husband? Must he wear slacks, or are shorts and a collared shirt acceptable? We probably will eat at Le Meridien 2 out of the 3 nites there (b/c we got all 3 dinners as part of a package, and it's not a priority for us to eat at an upscale restaurant on the main island), but we do want to try 1 dinner somewhere else on BB.<BR> Another stupid question...do you happen to remember how powerful the hairdryers were at Le Meridien? I am really concerned with luggage and weight limits (read in a travel guide that the airline for inter-island flights only allows 44lbs max of checked baggage per person), but I am really "attached" to my own hairdryer, as dumb as that must sound!<BR><BR> What do you suggest doing in the airport in Papeete during a 3 hour layover before the flight to Moorea? We arrive form LA at approx 2AM local time, and the flight to Moorea leaves at 5AM (luckily we have preregistration at the Sheraton once we arrive).<BR><BR> I really appreciate your help, even more so now that we leave for our trip in 1 week!!!:) If you don't mind, could you post your answer on this site, b/c when you emailed me directly, it was to my email address at work. Hi Denise.. Okay lets see. Your husband does not need to dress up at all. A nice short sleeve shirt and shorts with sandals is the most he will need to go out at night. I did wear cute dresses for dinner though, but most of the women do! If you are going out to eat on Bora Bora for one night try the Top Dive, it is the nicest on the island. Im sure you can call from your room to make a reservation.<BR><BR>Hairdryers??? Well I think it was decent but I have short hair. Denise it was so hot when we were there, like 99 degrees and with no air in the room, getting ready after a shower was hard for me. We would play all day outside and then shower right before we went out for the night. I ended up barely drying my hair, and that is a No No at home, and just styled it once it air dryed. I also wore less and less makeup for dinner because it was melting off as I was putting it on. But you will be so beautiful and tan that it wont matter! Its like a miracle you can look so good in those conditions. But trust me you will be glowing!! You are in heaven!<BR><BR>The airport in Papeete is very small and not much to do. In the middle of the night none of the little stores will even be open Im sure. I have no clue what you can do...maybe try to sleep?? You will be too excited though!<BR><BR>Another thing about the hairdryers, the whole thing with bringing your own adapter for the plugs I never really understood. The plugs did not work for us at the Meridien. They looked normal but nothing worked, luckily we never needed them. You may want to check into that more if you plan on needed a plug!<BR><BR>Hope this helps! Have fun for us too! We leave for Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in a few weeks.
